This year’s Fete had to be the best one so far. The weather was very kind to us and a large and happy crowd wandered around the numerous, well laid-out and colourful stalls, all manned by happy and welcoming faces.

There was something for everyone from Classic Cars and Motor Bikes to Bouncy Castles and face paintings; from a Coconut Shy to a 2nd hand regalia stall, along with a huge variety of things to watch or participate in, such as Tug-of-War, Ferret Racing, Dog Agility and Lindyhop dancing, not to mention the burgers, hot-dogs, curries and kebabs, and tea, coffee or beer with which to wash them down.

The D.J. ‘Mr.B.’ kept everyone informed of what was taking place and entertained us with the music in between times.

The Middlesex Display Caravan was on site along with several stalls of other Masonic Orders, including the Lady Freemasons, all of which were happy to explain their particular role.

An event such as this doesn’t just happen. Our thanks as well as our congratulations must go to Peter Hyde and his hard working and indefatigable team for all the months of planning and preparation, followed by setting up on the Saturday, the running of the whole show on the Sunday and then taking it all down and clearing up the ground on the Monday. It was a huge effort of their part.

Our thanks must also go to the Headmistress of the Royal Masonic School for Girls for so kindly allowing us the privilege of using their wonderful grounds and to the Stewards who manned the car parks etc.

I for one enjoyed the whole day immensely.
