Staines Masonic Hall

An important message from the Pro Provincial Grand Master and Grand Superintendent

Staines Masonic Hall

Staines Masonic Hall

Staines Masonic Hall is owned by a Trust made up of the three original Units, Staines Lodge, Spelthorne Lodge and London Stone Chapter, of which the Benefactors, who purchased the Hall in 1927, were members.

With the recent closure of several units, the Hall is no longer financially viable and at three Emergency Meetings of the Trustee Units held in the last week of July, unanimous decisions of the subscribing members were taken to empower the current Trustee Representatives of the Units to sell the Hall.

The previous week the Board of Twickenham District Masonic Council Ltd agreed to support a managed move for all the Units that wished to move to Twickenham from Staines. It would be planned to happen all on the same date.

At present there is no time scale for the move, but it is expected, that when it does happen, the vast majority of meeting dates will be able to be catered for without the need for them to be changed.

The hope is then for the proceeds of the sale of Staines Masonic Hall to be invested to create a bigger facility at Twickenham, able to cater for larger meetings as well as larger external events.

The expectation is for this to eventually make Twickenham an even better place for Freemasons to meet than it is today, as well as providing a better facility for external events and to be financially stronger in order to secure an even more impressive Masonic meeting venue for many generations to come. This is an exciting opportunity for us all.
