"Most Excellent Pro First Grand Principal, Distinguished Guests and Companions all.
Most Excellent Pro First Grand Principal – It has truly been an honour for me to have been installed by you today as Grand Superintendent in and over the Province of Middlesex and I speak for not just myself, but all of the Companions present when I say that we are delighted that you and your team are able to be with us on this special occasion.
It was a most impressive ceremony that I have experienced, and that the Companions have just witnessed, and I offer you my most sincere thanks.
I do however have to confess to having had some trepidation leading up to today, but that was quickly dispersed, and I have enjoyed every moment of the occasion, so much so that I am really looking forward to this afternoon’s meeting.
I would also like to welcome and thank E Comp Russell Race, the Most Excellent Second Grand Principal, E Comp David Boswell and the rest of the Officers of Supreme Grand Chapter who have assisted in the Ceremony this morning, making it such a memorable occasion, not only for the Members of the Province of Middlesex, but for all of our guests and, of course, for me too.
Companions, I am going to brief, as a refreshing drink and lunch is calling! And if you are expecting me to give you a long address this afternoon, well, my advice is not to go over 4 minutes on the sweepstake!! – There is plenty of time for us to talk later, but now is a time for action, for promoting the interests of our Order, for uniting and moving the Province forward, and for enjoying ourselves whilst so doing.
Companions, a meeting like this does not just happen, trust me, I know from personal experience.
The organisation required for today has been phenomenal.
An enormous amount of time and effort has been required in preparing, organising and rehearsing everything, and I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank E Comp Graham Redman and all of the staff at Supreme Grand Chapter for their help and advice; E Comp Oliver Lodge, the Grand Director of Ceremonies, and his team of Deputies for their direction and guidance; and also, of course, the whole of the Middlesex team.
My thanks especially go to the Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra, E Comp Mike Ross and his team, including our Past Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra, E Comp David Pearson who has deferred his retirement to help out for today; the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, E Comp Jim Mitchell, and his Deputies; the Provincial Grand Stewards; our Provincial Grand Janitor, E Comp Tom James, and all of the Companions who have assisted in the arrangements for today.
When you consider that they organised an Annual Convocation just three weeks ago and then had to turn around and start all over again for this Special Meeting today, well, what can I say except thank you most sincerely, you have made me very proud of our Province.
Companions, please join with me and show them how much we appreciate their efforts.
Companions, as I will be saying a few more words at lunch and then have to give another address this afternoon, I am going to sit down.
Before I do so, however, may I thank you all for attending and supporting this special meeting today, I am very grateful to you and I shall look forward to seeing you all again not only this afternoon; but also during the forthcoming Masonic year at our First Principals Chapters and at our next regular Annual Provincial Grand Chapter Convocation to be held in June 2019, once again, at ‘The Stoop’ in Twickenham; also, of course, on my sojourn around the Province.
Thank you and may God bless you all."
