Provincial Service Of Thanksgiving – St Albans – Sunday 4th November 2018

The Provincial Service of Thanksgiving this year will be held at the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban, located in the centre of St Albans on Sunday 4th November, 2018 (note revised date) commencing at 3 pm.

The Annual Service of Thanksgiving remains one of the most important events in the Middlesex Provincial social calendar.

It is an enjoyable event, being a mixture of colourful pageantry, wonderful music, good speakers and the opportunity of meeting together with fellow members of our Province and their families.

Please remember that the service is an occasion where we have the chance to invite non-masonic friends and family members to an event, where we are on display and have the chance to show to others the pride we have in membership of such a wonderful organisation.

Freemasons attending may wear either Craft or Royal Arch regalia at the service.

The service this year will also commemorate the centenary of the end of the Great War and all those that are permitted to do so, are requested to wear their military dress (uniform) together with decorations, medals and ribbons.

Those not permitted to wear military dress should wear their decorations, medals and ribbons according to Ministry of Defence regulations.

It is the wish of our Pro Provincial Grand Master that all Middlesex Freemasons attend this most important occasion in the Provincial Masonic year.

Unfortunately, there is no car parking at the Cathedral, but for those severely disabled there will be an area available, and requests for such parking facilities should be made in advance.

Street parking is possible in some areas; however, there are car parks in the town within a short distance of the Cathedral and brethren are advised to use these car parks where possible. (Link to interactive map of car parks)Parking is free on Sundays in the London Road Car Park. For those using public transport there is a British Rail service to St Albans Abbey Station from Watford Central and a direct service to St Albans station from St Pancras.

There will not be an official dinner following the service as in previous years. It is suggested therefore that you take the opportunity to make up a party and lunch before or after in one of the many restaurants or pubs in the St Albans area.
