Prince Michael of Kent has expressed his heartfelt thanks to the brethren of Middlesex for the ‘extraordinary generosity‘ they have shown in raising £4.5m in The 2020 Festival Appeal in aid of the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys.
In a letter to Pro Provincial Grand Master Peter Baker, the Provincial Grand Master commented that he was very proud of the way in which Middlesex had risen to the occasion, raising over £1,000 per member for the first time.
While the absolute amount raised is comparable to prior Festival totals, member numbers have fallen from 14,000 in 1998 to under 4,000 in 2020, setting records for the per capita amount raised. HRH Prince Michael described this as ‘a remarkable achievement‘.
The Provincial Grand Master’s comments were timed to coincide with a celebratory dinner planned for late March 2021 to mark the success of the 2020 Festival, which again had to be postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
