Middlesex Hospices Benefit

The Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) has just confirmed that £300,000 has been awarded in core funding grants to hospices across England and Wales.

This is in addition to grants for projects to local hospices which are administered by Hospice UK.

Three Hospices in the Province of Middlesex have benefited from this generosity.

These are:-

Harlington Hospice - £1,000  ( www.harlingtonhospice.org )

Michael Sobell House Hospice - £1,050 (www.michaelsobellhospice.co.uk)

St Luke’s Hospice - £1,660 ( https://www.stlukes-hospice.org/ )

Since 1984 a total of over £14 million has been awarded through the Central Masonic Charities (now MCF) by the Masonic community to hospice care.

In May 2020. Hospices who receive less than 60% of their funding from the NHS were invited to apply for these grants.

Hospices provide essential end of life and palliative care and their specialist knowledge extends to bereavement and mental health support to staff, patients and families which are affected during the current difficult times.

Regrettably, some Brethren may be all too familiar with hospices where loved ones may have spent their final days.

A difficult and frightening prospect.

However, amongst all the other calls on resources for all manner of charities, there is something special about hospice care where a loved one will be treated with respect and dignity as they complete life’s journey.
