As life returns to something approaching normality following the damage COVID-19 has wreaked on all of us, the first reports of in-person Masonic meetings are emerging.
Many Lodges will adopt their own approach to the resumption, and what is clear that the sheer joy of meeting Brothers in person again after so long will live long in the memory.
Such was the case as Strawberry Hill Lodge, No. 946 held its first meeting in more than 18 months on 1st September 2021, at Cole Court in Twickenham.
The Brethren invited wives and some of the Lodge’s widows to the gathering, and while they waited in the bar, a short emergency meeting was held to confirm the continuation of Worshipful Brother Tony Williams as Worshipful Master until April 2022, together with the en-block re-appointment of all the Officers for the same period.
The Lodge was then closed and all the visitors gathered in the Norman Moore Temple to hear a brief outline of the history of Freemasonry, as well receive an update on Freemasonry’s charitable efforts during the COVID-19 crisis.
W Bro Ron Sharpe PGSuptWorks, Lodge Secretary, explained: “After more (and well deserved) time in the bar, we then moved on to a truly sumptuous cold buffet, incorporating Greek, Moroccan and Nicoise salads with meat and fish platters and an excellent cheese board.
Choice ingredients, expertly prepared and beautifully presented by Cole Court’s new chef, Vitalij Pavlovskij, indicate the start of a new era of excellent cooking.”
A thanks to W. Bro Ian Mitchell ProvSGD for the final edit.
