Using a play on words relating to the 1969 comedy film “If it’s Tuesday this must be Belgium”, the RW Pro Provincial Grand Master and his team might be forgiven for wondering where they were on their hectic tour of the Masters’ Lodges in the Province.

Middlesex Masters Southgate Lodge, No. 9240 meeting at the Southgate Masonic Centre on Thursday 14th March was the last in a series of Middlesex Masters’ Installations attended by the RW Bro Peter Baker, Pro Provincial Grand Master.

Before the Pro Provincial Grand Master entered the Lodge the Worshipful Master said how saddened members had been to learn of the death at the previous weekend of W Bro John Culling, PAGDC.

THE INSTALLATION –

On taking the gavel, the Pro Provincial Grand Master mentioned that this Installation would be the fourth such he and the Provincial Executive had conducted in recent weeks.

“We should have got it about right by now,” he joked.

He then went on to install W Bro John Quickenden PProvGSuptWks, in the Chair of King Solomon in an exemplary manner.

W Bro Barry Cramer gave the Address to the Master, W Bro Peter Annett the Address to the Wardens, and W Bro Paul Huggins the Address to the Brethren, all in a manner to be expected of brethren of their exulted status.

The Installation Ceremony concluded, the Pro Provincial Grand Master congratulated the Lodge on achieving the status of Steward of The 2020 Middlesex Festival.

He said the Province recognised it was difficult for Installed Masters’ Lodges to raise large sums for charity, giving that all the members would already be giving through their own Lodges.

It was therefore particularly pleasing to him that Southgate Masters had achieved Stewardship of the appeal.

Brother Peter went on to present the Lodge’s Charity Steward, W Bro Ivan Kraven, with a Certificate marking the achievement, together with a cheque for £200 to be donated to a non-masonic charity of the Lodge’s choosing and two 2020 Festival alms collection bags.
