Shave off for cancer –
While he is best known for his scientific discoveries that led to many technological breakthroughs, Einstein was also well known for his unruly hair, and never visited a barber after the birth of his son in 1904.
It’s easy to imagine then that Einstein would have approved of the recent initiative of W Bro Chris Tracey, Worshipful Master of the Lodge of Sincere Friendship. No. 8548, to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research, which is focussed on improving the quality of life for men with prostate cancer.
Supporting Prostate Research –
As with many charities, COVID-19 has impacted its ability to raise funds, which are desperately needed to support its activities including eleven research projects at some of the UK’s leading institutions in prostate cancer ranging from early-stage biological insights to drug development, including AI computing solutions to prostate cancer, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, improving radiotherapy and modelling prostate cancer.
On a personal level, Chris has also been unable to have his hair cut due to COVID lockdown restrictions.
If only there was a way to overcome both these difficulties at the same time ?
In a lightbulb moment, Chris decided to ‘Brave the Shave’ to mark his forthcoming 71st birthday in aid of the charity, and, as you can see from the ‘before’ photos, he’s going to need a strong set of clippers.
This is a big deal for Chris as he was born with a full head of hair and has never sported a short haircut in his life.
