Filipino Fest at Barra Hall Lodge

Members of Barra Lodge, No. 8096 together with APGM W Bro Paul Huggins

On the 12th April, 2019 at Cole Court, Twickenham a vibrant Installation meeting of Barra Hall Lodge, No. 8096 took place witnessed by APGM W. Bro Paul Huggins PSGD on his official visit.

New Master W. Bro Richard Canonicato and Installing Master W. Bro Marvin Llagas,

There was a bumper turnout of 52 at the meeting which considering that Lodge nearly handed back its Warrant about 15 years ago showed an amazing transformation in the Lodge’s fortunes.

The factor which precipitated the change was the Initiation of Bro Lester Balabet in 2006, which seemed to be a catalyst for an influx of Filipino and British candidates, which then ensured the future prosperity of the Lodge.

Barra Hall currently has about 30 members on its roll.

Barra Hall Lodge has the largest Filipino membership of a Lodge in the Province of Middlesex and many of those present at the meeting were from that community including the Installing Master W. Bro Marvin Llagas, and newly Installed Master W. Bro Richard Canonicato.

The Lodge welcomed many visiting brethren present from the Queensway Lodge of Paddington, No. 6833, a Metropolitan Lodge with a large Filipino membership.

The Lodge has a very active social side, with regular family get-togethers and very popular annual Ladies Festivals.

The weekly Lodge of Instruction is always well attended and the work put in by the Preceptor/DC W Bro Paul Bennett is very much self-evident as is the work put in by those Brethren who attend.

W. Bro Paul Huggins APGM PSGD receives a cheque for £1,000

A visit is being planned for next year by several members of the Lodge to visit the Grand Lodge of the Philippines.

All members are keen supporters of Provincial activities and at the meeting a cheque was handed to APGM W. Bro Paul Huggins PSGD for an amount of £1,000 which qualified the Lodge as Vice Patron of The 2020 Festival.
