A Report from W. Bro Kevin Gates of Uxbridge Lodge, No. 7066 –

W Bro Bill Crawley and Heather Crawley
This was our way of recognising a Brother’s contribution to stability in social life and also the fortitude of their long-suffering wives !!
With no meetings during the lockdown we learnt by our WhatsApp group and by phoning around that Lodge Treasurer W Bro Bill Crawley and his wife Heather had the unfortunate experience of having their car stolen over the weekend of 16th-17th May.
Their 45th wedding anniversary fell on the Tuesday after the Bank Holiday weekend but the lockdown meant their usual family celebration was cancelled.
While it wasn’t a landmark year, the WM and Brethren felt a bouquet was in order to cheer them both up.
The difficulties of obtaining a bouquet during lockdown and after a Bank Holiday were overcome and Lodge Almoner W Bro Kevin Gates delivered the flowers to the happy couple and stayed long enough for a socially distanced cup of tea in the garden enjoying the sunshine.
Bill said he would happily stand the members a round of drinks when meetings started back but he might have to increase the subs !!
Meanwhile Somewhere in West Africa !
On a separate note our member Bro Serge Gohou remains stranded in his family home in the Ivory Coast.
Bro Serge flew out for a long planned holiday to see his father at the family home on March 18th.
The subsequent lockdown meant his scheduled flight home a fortnight later was cancelled.
Despite the best efforts of Uxbridge Lodge, the Middlesex Provincial Almoner, Grand Lodge and his local MP, we have been unable to get him a flight, but its expected he will be home in time for when the Masonic season recommences.
In the meantime we are keeping in touch by phone and WhatsApp “
A special thanks to W. Bro Kevin of Uxbridge Lodge for this report
