Lateral Flow, The Way To Go – At North Harrow Lodge, No. 6557

Bro Simon Highsmith (r) and new Initiate Bro Ratnarajah

Being cautious took on a new meaning at North Harrow Lodge, No. 6557 where all those attending had been vaccinated against Covid 19 and had a negative lateral flow test before the meeting.

That way all could be happy that they were in a safe environment and could enjoy their freemasonry.

Indeed, 18 Brethren and Guest attended the Meeting.

North Harrow Lodge seem to be good at creating a headline.

In October 2020 just before the last lockdown they were able to Initiate Bro Manjeave Lotay, the last Candidate to be Initiated.

On May 21st this year the Lodge had the distinction of Initiating the first Candidate after the lifting of restrictions.

Bro Ghow Ratnarajah, who is blind, was Initiated in a Ceremony conducted by Worshipful Brother Terry Clayfield with W Bro Nigel Harris-Cooksley acting as Junior Deacon.

Brother Simon Highsmith who is Senior Warden of Bedfont Lodge, No. 8381, who is also blind, attended having been responsible for introducing Bro Ghow to freemasonry through the Discovery Freemasonry unsponsored candidate referral scheme.

It was fitting, therefore, that Bro Simon should deliver the 1st Degree working tools.

The Antient Charge was given by Brother Richard Flood.

Afterwards on two tables of six some of the Brethren dined to celebrate Ghow’s Initiation.

Aptly this was at a local curry restaurant.

Success breeds success

Over the last ten years North Harrow Lodge has been extremely successful by increasing membership from a low of 22 members to 42 as of today.

The pipeline has another 2 candidates scheduled to join over the next 6 months.

This has been achieved through the Lodge website and other social media presence to generate interest, together with good mentoring and communications.

We wish Bro Ghow well on his new journey in freemasonry and congratulate North Harrow Lodge on their successes.
