This was the first Meeting under the “Rule of Six” and it was decided that the current WM would remain in the Chair for another year after a Proclamation.
Under these circumstances, and as there would be plenty of time, it was decided to offer one of the Lodge’s waiting Candidates the opportunity to be Initiated.
This meant multiple roles being undertaken by the Brethren and, of course, adherence to the Covid 19 Guidelines,
W. Bro Kam Chana, the Master, performed the initiation Ceremony for Brother Manjeave Lotay and delivered the Working Tools with confidence.
W. Bro Nigel Harris-Cooksley ProvJGW acted as Secretary, JD and Inner Guard and delivered the Address to the Master after the Proclamation.
W. Bro Terry Clayfield acted as both IPM and Chaplain and delivered the Charge in the North East Corner and also the Ancient Charge after Initiation.
W. Bro Rimal Shah, the Lodge Treasurer, acted as Junior Warden and also presented the Lodge Accounts.
Bro Moses Kiwanuka carried out the duties of Senior Warden.
The meeting was a huge success and the candidate thoroughly enjoyed himself and said he would never forget the experience.
For added good measure, and to make the day an extra special one, he also received a letter of acceptance to study at Cambridge University.
There has been discussion amongst masons about Initiating new candidates with reduced numbers in the Temple.
Yes, there is an expectation about Initiating candidates and to make it special for them.
After all you only get Initiated into the Craft once.
However, under the circumstances there is no doubt that this “special” Initiation will linger long in the memory of the new Brother.
North Harrow Lodge continues to thrive now with a membership of 41, with another Initiation scheduled for January, if permitted.
