Harrow Progress Lodge, No. 5964, who meet at Harrow District Masonic Centre will have great memories of fundraising in recent months and their donations to Charity.
In April 2019, the Worshipful Master, W. Bro David Morton had decided that the chosen charity for his year would be the Peace Hospice in Watford, after receiving great care and support when his own father had been resident in the Hospice: certainly a natural choice.
The Lodge donated £350 to the hospice who held an open day for Lodge members who were shown the educational support they provide to schools and colleges as well as the in-patient care services.
More recently the events coordinator, Bro. Kiran Bhatla, raised the fundraising profile of the Lodge even further by holding a cheese and wine day at his home in Canons Park, where all the food and drinks were provided by Bro Kiran and his wife.
Over 35 Brethren came to his home on Sunday 30th June 2019 to watch the Cricket game between India versus England on TV.
His two sons also got involved in the activities which included them bowling an over each and anyone wishing pit their batting prowess against them were asked for a donation to the Lodge Charity collections which raised £110.00.Bro. Alan Braithwaite who is over 90 years of age and his wife attended and had a go at defending their wicket Bro. Hamir Vaghela made a special appearance at the event and in light a recent knee operation, his managed over 1.4km in steps on the day.
This was a wonderful example of extending the harmony and friendship outside the Tyle of the Lodge and Bro Kiran is to be congratulated on this wonderful initiative.
No doubt this might become a successful formula for the future where the Lodge members support each other in such a great charitable and sociable manner.
