Hegeston Lodge, No.5220 – success in recruiting new Members

Some of the members at a recent supper event to raise money for the Masonic Fishing Charity.

Following on from the example of our Daughter Lodge we have used our web page and some of their contracts to tap into a new group of Initiates, and that is breathing fresh life into the Lodge.

New Members would traditionally have joined every 2-3 years and retention was a problem.

In the last 3 years we have adopted a different approach, organising social evenings and get together’s, to meet our newer Brethren and their friends who might have an interest in Freemasonry.

This has resulted in 6 initiates and another 2 in the pipeline.

The Lodge has also changed the way we carry out Ceremonies, with the Apprentices taking part at every opportunity.

Our Charity Steward W Bro Williams is pushing everyone in supporting The 2020 Festival and for a small Lodge we are extremely pleased with the way it is going.

W Bro Steve James work with the Masonic Fishing Charity is currently in the spotlight at our Lodge events, and it is proving a clear insight into the work they do with deprived and disabled young people.

Our IPM W Bro Stephen Shepherd recently presented a cheque for £600 to the Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity, following a successful year as Master.

The monies raised as part of our charity collections and a well attended Ladies Evening in Bournemouth.
