Five go to a Masonic Meeting

Borrowing from Enid Blyton, I wonder what the Famous Five would have made of the current situation and faced with the reality of Covid 19, what would they have done ?

Certainly there would have been no lashings of wine at Festive Board.

However, at the last minute it was only with the help of another Brother, W Bro Julian Posner of Jubilee Lodge, No. 8822, who was in the right place and the right time to make up the quorum.

Faced with reduced numbers being permitted, it is a credit to the Brethren of Northwood Lodge, No. 4994 who attended to conduct the business of the Lodge, which was held at Harrow District Masonic Centre, and how much they were able to do.

Sadly, there were two eulogies to be read in respect of departed merit.

Firstly, W Bro Michael Robinson PPrGReg SLGR and W. Bro Fred Partington PPrJGD.

W Bro Fred had only received his Provincial honours this year.

It is bad enough to lose one Brother, but to lose two in quick succession is a tragic loss to any Lodge.

Both Brethren were given due respect in the Lodge and the Secretary even left the name of W Bro Fred Partington on the Summons in honour of his recent appointment.

The various Lodge reports were given and of note was the Charity Steward’s Report.

Due to the tremendous effort in The 2020 Festival the Lodge had been able to donate the £1,000 received in vouchers to deserving charities.

This included £600 to the Harrow Centre to assist with the provision of meals which were then distributed by the Salvation Army.

A further £200 each was given to the Enfield and Feltham Foodbanks.

Despite the cap on numbers the Lodge was able to report on its business as well as honour those recently passed to the Grand Lodge above.

The photo was taken by W Bro Julian Posner of Jubilee Lodge, No. 8822 who stood in on the day and made it possible to hold the Meeting and reach the required quorum. Well done.
