This combined with the Worshipful Master’s 50th anniversary as a freemason gave the Lodge Secretary plenty to occupy his mind.
The evening was going to be a busy one with three sets of minutes, the accounts and the election of Master, Treasurer and Tyler.
The meeting started early due to preparations for the Official visit of W Bro Robert Rough PSGD, Assistant Provincial Grand Master.
The Worshipful Master W Bro Chris Nixon PAGDC PProvGChStwd on entering the lodge and he was received warmly by the Brethren all clearly expecting to enjoy this meeting.
The APGM W Bro Robert Rough entered with his escort and was received with great enthusiasm.
The WM was proclaimed and the Lodge Officers reappointed.
W Bro Derek Breslin was presented with a Certificate from the Lodge to mark 40 years as a freemason.
He was thanked for the support he had given the Lodge over the years, especially for the popular annual barbeques he held and also for sponsoring the replacement Lodge Banner which he funded for the Centenary meeting – (see photo above).
Now Down to Some Work
After a short interval Bro Greville Kirk was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason.
W Bro Keith Dear PPrJGW gave the Traditional History and W Bro Chris Chibnall presented the 3rd Degree working tools.
This was followed by a superb rendition of the Walking Charge given by W Bro Gil Singleton PProvGSwdB the guest of W Bro Chris Nixon PAGDC PPrGReg.
Fifty Years a Freemason
The APGM, W Bro Robert Rough then proceeded to give the personal masonic history of W Bro Chris Nixon’s celebrating his 50 years in Freemasonry; his holding Grand Rank in 3 Orders and involvement in several others.
Perhaps significantly was his unstoppable drive to raise money for many charitable aims including several Provincial Festivals over time.
W Bro Chris was presented with a Certificate celebrating this very important masonic milestone as well as a gift from the Executive.
Charitable Endeavours Recognised
W Bro Jack Flint PAGSuptWks then stood to thank the Lodge for their donations towards his charitable work In the Watamu region of Kenya supporting health care for women.
He was rather taken aback when he finished, as the Secretary proposed the Lodge would transfer another £500 to this work, which was then followed by a presentation from the PMK Social Group of a further £500.
The Brethren enjoyed the meeting and getting back into the swing of things.
The APGM and his escort remained at the festive board until the very end and W Bro Robert provided Port for all in recognition of the Lodge’s achievement in reaching Platinum Grand Patron in the 2020 Festival.
Ed: Thanks to W. Bro Keith Dear of Draytonian Lodge No 3980 for the report.
