There must be more sedate ways of championing a charitable cause, but David chose the hard way.
With the aim of supporting the Alzheimer’s Society, W. Bro David was strapped into the harness on top of the wings ready to begin his “Mad Max” experience.
He hopes that with the support of Middlesex Masons and friends he can reach his target.
He has already received support from Members of his Middlesex Lodge and from the Chapter and with donations via the Justgiving link, he will be able to manage his target total £1,500.
A pledge has also been received from David’s Mark Degree Lodge in Sussex, with the anticipation of the Mark Province matching any sum donated.
The adventure took place on Saturday 18th July and the aircraft used was a Boeing Stearman 1942 Bi-Plane.
David afterwards reported that it was a most exciting and exhilarating experience which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Whilst some us were sitting in our back gardens sipping fine tea in bone china, or, indeed, Pimms No 1 Cup, our erstwhile Brother David reached for the skies in a kind of Kenneth More impersonation all in aid of a good cause.
W. Bro David, you are to be congratulated on this wonderful initiative and your Middlesex Masonic Colleagues will no doubt applaud you on your bravery and support your endeavours to raise your target for the Alzheimer’s Society.
* Interesting to note that Charles Lindbergh began his career as a Wing Walker.
