Roll Call Lodge rocks to the Mersey beat

The “Mersey Sound” in action !

Dining room No. 1 at Cole Court rocked to the sounds of the Mersey beat on Saturday 2nd March for the annual fund-raising evening of Roll Call Lodge, No. 2523.

Owing to a local Council issue with the marquee, just under 100 revellers assembled for the event, which included a dinner of shepherds pie followed by cheesecake.

Organisers John Hoare and Neville Daniels said “we had to turn away over 150 bookings as the dining room couldn’t accommodate any more than 100”.

The band were the “Mersey Sound” who treated us to non-stop covers of the hits from the early 1960’s featuring The Beatles, The Hollies, Dave Clark 5, Freddie and the Dreamers and many others.

The smaller than usual dance floor also did not deter those keen to turn back the years to when they were bopping in the dance halls of those days.

The Lodge raised the fantastic sum of £1,600 on the night, which is being donated to the Middlesex 2020 Festival and a big thank you must go to Alan Winter, who auctioned a week in his apartment in Tenerife.

John Hoare is already being asked when will he will book the “Rat Pack” again – Steve is back from Las Vegas next year so watch this space !

John thanked everyone for supporting this Roll Call Lodge event and the 100 tickets sold out in under 4 weeks.

Watch out for details of the Christmas party event – it will be a cracker !
