Not only would they receive a super lunch but would also be entertained. This year due to the difficult circumstances of social distancing and tiering it had not been possible to arrange the event as normal.
So, on the 10th December W Bro John Briggs, Provincial Charity Steward, accompanied by Bro Sam Devine, a Fellow Craft Freemason of Citadel Lodge, played the parts of Santa Claus and his helper in distributing 35 Christmas Hampers to those that would have attended the lunch.
This meant a drive around the Harrow area for a good part of the day delivering each bag.
This was a wonderful gesture to the recipients and meant sure that they would not miss out on a bit of Christmas cheer.
In the hampers were jars of jam and coffee, a packet of tea, baked beans, 2 tins of soup, 2 tins of fruit, tins of stew and curry, a tin of custard, 6 mince pies, a Christmas pudding, chocolate coins, 2 packs of crisps, and a large bag of Quality Street chocolates.
Not only that, but a key ring, all presented in a very nice Christmas bag.
Brother Sam is a relatively new Mason who has been a member of Citadel Lodge for just over a year.
It must have been gratifying to him to be involved first-hand with this kind of masonic activity.
The members can be rightly proud of him and his mentor on the day W Bro John Briggs.
Not only that, but those who received these very welcome gifts must surely have had a happy smile on their faces.
