Devon Duck Day

(l to r) W Bro Mark Clark, Bro Derek Sharpe (EA, the newest member) RW Bro Peter Baker, Bro Adrian Doe, W Bro Jim Mitchell, W Bro Peter Hyde, Bro Mark Glover, Bro Andrew Elliott, W Bro Steve Larkins, the WM, W Bro Martin Malvisi, Mr John Benson and Bro Paul MacMillan.

On Friday 3rd September some of the game shooting members of the Middlesex Shooting Sports Lodge, No. 1702, gathered at The Hunters Moon, a 17th century coaching Inn at Middlesmarsh, near Sherborne, which is owned by W Bro Dean Mortimer PPrJGD, a fellow Middlesex Mason.

Dean is a member of Lest We Forget Lodge, No. 7222.

It was a convivial evening with an excellent meal.

This was followed by a relatively early night.

A hearty breakfast in the morning was an ideal preparation for the first game shoot of the season in the beautiful Devon countryside.

The Lodge members made the foray into the neighbouring County of Devon where the shoot took place.

Coincidentally, one of W Bro Dean’s neighbours is Peter Wilson MBE who won a shooting Gold Medal at the London 2012 Olympics – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Wilson_(sport_shooter)

The next meeting of Middlesex Shooting Sports Lodge, No. 1702 took place at Cole Court the following week.

Bro Mark Glover who coordinated the weekend’s shoot was delighted to present the WM, W Bro Steve Larkins, a cheque for £1,045, which was the amount raised over the weekend for the WM’s charity – The Alexandra Sales Trust.

The Trust was set up to create a legacy in memory of Alexandra Sales who on the 2nd April 2013 was diagnosed with Metastatic Rhabdomysarcoma, a rare, rapidly spreading soft tissue cancer.

Alexandra passed away on the 16th September 2014 aged just 17. www.thealexandrasalestrust.co.uk
