Patience is Rewarded at Harrow Temple in Unity Lodge

(l to r) W Bro Justin Purcell, newly Raised Bros: Kishan Nathwani and Aki Aybakar with the WM

Bros Kishan Nathwani and Ali Aybakar were Initiated and Passed a year apart in respectively February 2019 and February 2020, since when their further progress was stalled as a result of the suspension of Masonic activity through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Their frustration, however, was ended on 21st September 2021 when the Lodge met at the Harrow Centre for the first time in 12 months and Bros Kishan and Ali were Raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in a joint ceremony by the Lodge’s Senior Warden W Bro Justin Purcell PAGStdB with the Traditional History, Tracing Board and Working Tools presented by W Bro David Pearson PProvGSec, the Lodge Secretary.

This was an historic meeting in two other ways.

The Worshipful Master, W Bro Laurence Davidson, was proclaimed as WM for a third consecutive year commencing on 4 May 2021 in accordance with the Temporary Emergency Measures promulgated by UGLE effective from 15 February 2021.

Secondly, this was the first time the Lodge had held a double Raising, either since its amalgamation in February 2011, or in recent memory in its earlier existence as Harrow Lodge 1310.

After the meeting 17 members and 3 guest attended a very convivial and enjoyable festive board

Looking Forward

The Lodge now looks forward to two significant meetings in September 2021 and February 2022.

At the former it expects to Initiate two new members, who have also been waiting patiently for more than a year, during which time they have been introduced to Lodge members at social events.

In February 2022 the Lodge will finally be able to celebrate its 150th Anniversary, delayed from May 2020, and its APGM, W Bro John Leggett, will dedicate the new banner which had been commissioned to mark the amalgamation of the three Lodges in February 2011.

The three Lodges were Harrow Lodge, No. 1310, Unity and Friendship Lodge, No. 8224 and Temple of Harrow Lodge, No. 8987.

The amalgamation was the first such of three Lodges in the history of Middlesex Provincial Grand Lodge.

With the expected advent of new members, the Lodge looks forward to a bright future.
