It is with regret that I report that Geoff Rayner passed away at about 5.30 a.m. on Sunday, 4th August 2019 only some 5 weeks after having been diagnosed with oesophageal and liver cancer.
I am sure that you will wish to join me in sending his wife, Patsy, his daughter, Tricia, and all his family our sincere and heartfelt condolences on their loss and assure them that they are in our thoughts and prayers at this very sad and difficult time.
Geoff was initiated in Strawberry Hill Lodge, No. 946 in 1979 and exalted in Elizabethan Chapter, No. 7324 in 1983.
In Grand Lodge he was appointed Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2004 and promoted to Past Senior Grand Deacon in 2006, having been appointed as an Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2005.
In Supreme Grand Chapter he was appointed Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2016.
Having retired from his business as a furniture and carpet retailer Geoff moved to New Romney in Kent and joined Romney Marsh Lodge, No. 4743, East Kent Masters Lodge, No. 3931 and Wakefield of Hythe Chapter, No. 6059 whilst still maintaining his Middlesex connections.
Geoff was always smiling and was well liked in the Province.
He certainly lived respected and died regretted. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
The Funeral Service for W Bro/E Comp Geoffrey Ronald Leonard Rayner PSGD PAsstProvGM PAGDC (RA) will be held at 11.00 am on Wednesday 4th September 2019 at St Peter’s & St Paul’s Church, Dymchurch, Kent TN29 0LD.
The Service will be followed by Cremation to be held at Hawkinge Crematorium, Aerodrome Road, Hawkinge, Kent CT18 7AG, to be attended by close friends and family only.
From the completion of the Church Service, the Romney Marsh Lodge, No. 4743 will be hosting a reception at the Dymchurch Masonic Centre next to the Church, where tea and coffee will be available together with bar facilities.
On the Family’s return to the Dymchurch Masonic Centre a buffet will be served for those present.
The Family have asked for family flowers only and all donations are to be made to the Pilgrims Hospices in East Kent in the name of Geoffrey Rayner.
