Newly installed Charity Steward at Bedfont Lodge No. 8381, Bro Iain Raymond, is already putting his best foot forward to support the Lodge's chosen charities. Firstly, he has pledged to take part in the Never Forgotten Walk, designed to remember and raise funds in memory of loved ones and friends that have died from the disease. As a former Pipe Major in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, Iain should have no trouble completing the 55 miles in 30 days challenge!
The Brethren of Bedfont Lodge have also decided to contribute to the Lifelites Charity Appeal currently being run by Middlesex Province. The appeal set out to raise 55 virtual reality headsets, one for each home in the UK run by Lifelites, to bring some joy into the lives of the children in these hospices. For example, the headsets enable these children to experience things they would never be able to do otherwise, such as riding a rollercoaster, walking along a beach or camping. Thanks to the hard work of Provincial Grand Charity Steward, W. Bro John Briggs and the generosity of Lodges throughout the Province, the target has now been exceeded, with enough funds donated for 60 VR headsets. The appeal is now being extended to target the purchase of an iPad for each hospice.
A thanks to W. Bro Ian Mitchell PProvSGD for the edit
