Not only was this a wonderful opportunity to see Chapter friends again, but the DC ensured a busy evening by arranging for the Companions to rehearse for an Exaltation scheduled for next March 2021.
Two guests from the Royal Arch Province of Surrey were welcomed and one kindly agreed to act as stand in Exaltee.
The funny thing was that when the Principal Sojourner needed a prompt, it was the “Candidate” who did the prompting.
All in all, it was a good “work out” and it went well.
Whence Come You ?
The Chapter was also pleased to welcome back as a re-joining member E Comp Colin Roberts PPrGStdB who having moved away from the Province several years ago was pleased to be able to travel the relatively long distance from the Forest of Dean to return to St Clair Chapter.
Other Companions made journeys from East Sussex, Devon and Hampshire.
No doubt St Clair Chapter has a strong magnet which keeps bringing the members back.
Charity Begins in Chapter
The Charity Steward, E Comp Stan Marut LGCR PPrAGSoj, was keen to get the ball rolling on the Charity front and proposed the sum of £250 be given to the Charity CHAPS ( www.chaps.uk.com) who specialise in PSA Screening.
The screening is done simply by a blood test called Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), a protein produced only by the prostate.
PSA is thus specific to the prostate but to no specific condition.
CHAPS offer a PSA test for men between the ages of 40 and 80.
This is particularly poignant as the Province of Middlesex has agreed with CHAPS to roll out a programme of PSA testing for Provincial members in the early New Year or thereabouts.
Watch out for news of this event.
Compliments to the Chef
Not only was the meeting very much enjoyed by those present, the Festive Board proved to be a treat with a menu of:
Marinated seafood and summer salad with lemon dressing; Slow braised pork belly served with mashed potato, spring onion and apple jus followed by Chocolate & Cherry bomb served with raspberry coulis.
To a man the meal was described as probably the best ever at Cole Court and it’s compliments to the Chef.
