Members of Gothic Lodge wearing their Centenary jewels, and their guests.
Report by W Bro Peter Lovell MBE PPrGReg, Southgate Provincial Media Correspondent.
Following their highly successful meeting to celebrate the Lodge’s centenary in May 2023, members of Gothic Lodge No 4517 were prepared for a more low-key affair at their next regular meeting held last October. However, they were surprised when the Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, W Bro David Smith interrupted proceedings to announce that W Bro Robert Rough, PSGD, Assistant Provincial Grand Master wished to enter the Lodge. There was, however, a very special reason for this request. At the Centenary meeting the jewels celebrating this significant landmark had not been available to present to the Lodge members. RW Bro Peter Baker, the Pro Provincial Grand Master at the time of the Centenary meeting, had requested W. Bro Rob Rough to return to the Lodge when the jewels were available to present them, which he had been pleased to do. The Century jewels were then presented to those brethren who were qualified to receive them.
The Lodge went on to hold a very happy meeting, followed by a convivial Festive Board.
