PGLM Annual Meeting Tuesday 11th May 2021

R.W. Bro Peter R. A. Baker
Pro Provincial Grand Master

The second Tuesday in May is traditionally the day when the members of the Province gather at Freemasons’ Hall, London for the Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge and the investiture of those Brethren who have received a Provincial appointment or promotion, but sadly, for the second year in succession, this is not possible due to the ongoing suspension of Masonic activities because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Yet there is a growing and brighter light at the end of the tunnel, and in accordance with HM Government’s next step on the ‘roadmap’ out of the lockdown restrictions, we will be able to resume some limited Masonic activity from next Monday, 17th May 2021 with, hopefully, a resumption of more normality in our meetings from Monday 21st June 2021.

The Special Edition of the First Rising issued by Grand Lodge on Monday gives details and guidance on the resumption of Masonic activities next week, and further guidance will be given to you in due course.

In the meantime I congratulate all those Brethren whom our Provincial Grand Master, HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO, has been pleased to Re-appoint to an active rank in the Province, or on whom he has been pleased to confer a First Appointment to, or Promotion in, Provincial Grand Rank.

I confirm that these appointments or promotions take effect from 11th May 2021, from which date you may wear your new regalia.

I am very much looking forward to the beginning of September when we will be able to meet for our postponed Annual Meeting at Twickenham, albeit on a smaller scale, when I will have the pleasure and privilege of obligating and investing W. Bro. Jim Mitchell PAGDC, as the new Assistant Provincial Grand Master in succession to W Bro. Paul Huggins PSGD, who retires today after 5-years loyal service, as well as formally investing you all with your new rank, on behalf of our Provincial Grand Master.

Finally, please do keep safe and well and follow the simple actions we must always observe to continue to protect each other, relating to: Hands> Face> Space> Fresh Air.

With kindest fraternal regards
