Revised Arrangements For The Craft And Royal Arch Annual Meetings – 2020

Brethren,

Due to the suspension of all Lodge and Chapter meetings as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge, due to be held at Freemasons’ Hall London on Tuesday 12 May 2020, and the Annual Convocation of Provincial Grand Chapter, due to be held at the Twickenham Stoop Stadium on Thursday 9 July 2020, have been cancelled.

The Book of Constitutions and Provincial By-laws require that an annual meeting or convocation shall take place on a day and at a place to be determined by the R.W. Provincial Grand Master or M.E. Grand Superintendent, as applicable.

Consequently, provisional arrangements are being made to hold scaled-down meetings in the autumn for both the Craft and Royal Arch.

These will take place at either the Harrow or Twickenham District Masonic Centres but, because of the smaller seating capacity at both Centres (approximately 140 at each), the likely number of members wishing to attend will have to be limited to those Brethren or Companions required to do so in an official capacity and those receiving an appointment to, or promotion in, Provincial Grand Rank.

Regrettably, it will not be possible to accommodate any invited guests or visitors from outside of the Province at either event.

Even so the anticipated number of attendees cannot all be accommodated at one Craft or Royal Arch meeting or convocation and it will be necessary to split them, as follows: –

Provincial Grand Lodge –

Tuesday 1st September 2020 at Twickenham: – The Annual Meeting including the appointment and investiture of the Acting Provincial Grand Officers for the year and the appointment only of all those Brethren receiving a First Appointment or Promotion to a Past Provincial Grand Rank.

Monday 14th September 2020 at Harrow: – The formal investiture of Brethren receiving a First Appointment or Promotion to a Past Provincial Grand Rank will take place within the regular meeting of Middlesex Masters (Southgate) Lodge, No. 9240 to be held at Harrow by Dispensation.

The remaining investitures will take place as follows: –

Thursday 8th October 2020 at Harrow within the regular meeting of Middlesex Masters Harrow Lodge, No. 9787; and

Monday 12th October 2020 at Twickenham within the regular meeting of Middlesex Masters Lodge No.3420.

Revised details will be sent to all recipients of Provincial Grand Rank later in the spring or summer and, wherever possible, Brethren will be invited to attend an investiture at the most convenient Masonic Centre.

Provincial Grand Chapter –

Monday 7th September 2020 at Twickenham: – The Annual Convocation including the appointment and investiture of the Acting Provincial Grand Officers for the year and the appointment only of those Companions receiving a First Appointment or Promotion to a Past Provincial Grand Rank.

Monday 28th September 2020 at Twickenham: – The formal investiture of Companions receiving a First Appointment or Promotion to a Past Provincial Grand Rank will take place within the regular convocation of the Chapter of Air Unity No. 7445.

The issue of the Letters of Appointment to all those Companions being offered a Provincial Grand Rank has been delayed pending the finalisation of these arrangements and the details will be issued later in the spring or summer.

Please note that the revised arrangements for the scaled-down annual meeting and convocation are provisional and may be subject to further change if the current period of suspension of all Lodge and Chapter meetings is further extended.

Finally, I wish to assure you that the health, safety and welfare of you, your families and loved ones is of the greatest importance to both the R.W. Provincial Grand Master, me and our Provincial Executive Committees, so please do heed the ongoing advice being given by the Government’s medical advisors during these extremely challenging times for all of us.

Please remember: ‘Stay at home, Stay safe and Stay well.’

With kindest fraternal regards,

Pro Provincial Grand Master for and
Grand Superintendent in and over Middlesex
