As you know, today would have been the date of the Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge at Freemasons’ Hall, London, where I was very much looking forward to joining with you at this very important event in the Provincial calendar. However, because of the unprecedented circumstances in which we find ourselves, sadly this year’s Annual Meeting has had to be postponed until the autumn at the earliest.
I am particularly disappointed for those Brethren who have been appointed to or promoted in Provincial Grand Rank by our Provincial Grand Master, HRH Prince Michael of Kent, GCVO, and whom I was due to invest on his behalf this afternoon. You will know that HRH sent a message to all of you at the end of last week to say that he was thinking of you and to wish you all well and he has made your new rank effective as of today’s date. The Active Provincial Grand Officers of the year also take up their new duties with immediate effect. I send my heartiest congratulations to each one of you and hope that you will enjoy your preferment.
We must remain positive and hope that the suspension of all our Lodge and Chapter meetings will be lifted in the not too distant future so that we can return to some sort of normal Masonic life, when I shall look forward to meeting with you all again and enjoying your company. Until then, please ‘Stay Alert > Control the Virus > Save Lives’.
My very best wishes to you, your families and loved ones.
With kindest fraternal regards
Peter R A Baker
