Provincial Grand Master visit to HDMC – Report + Photos

Harrow District Masonic Centre celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, GCVO visited the centre on 21 March 2014 and opened the New Provincial Library as well as re-naming the Temples.

The Province has been fortunate to have His Royal Highness preside over us for the last 32 years and also fortunate to have dedicated and progressive leaders in the position of Pro Provincial Grand Master in Right Worshipful Brothers Gordon Bourne, David Bonner, David Cons and Roger Croome.

The main Temple was re-named ‘His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent Temple’ and Number 2 Temple re-named the ‘Gordon Bourne Temple’. Ensuring close links between the Craft and the Royal Arch the Chapter Suite was re-named the ‘David Cons Chapter Suite’ which will accommodate the Rev David Bonner’s commemorative Bible and Committee Room 1 re-named the ‘Roger Croome Library’ and now houses the New Middlesex Provincial Library.

The Provincial Grand Master met with the Staff at Harrow, the newer members of our orders, the Board of Harrow and the valuable volunteers who assist in the smooth running of the centre, together with members of the Provincial Executive whilst taking a tour of the Centre and addressing those assembled.

The Board’s view, to operate in an open and transparent manner and be inclusive, certainly came through on the day with all those who make up the ‘life of the Centre’ being introduced to His Royal Highness. Bro Sanjiv Shah, Chairman of the Centre, ensured that all those who help maintain a smooth operation were represented during the Provincial Grand Master’s visit.

As part of the Board’s attitude, Harrow has developed its links to the wider community and, following the Province’s view ‘in the community for the community’, those links are gaining strength. Private functions and open days are helping to encourage the public into the Centre and a greater insight into Freemasonry.

Everyone had a most enjoyable day that had been carefully planned and the Provincial Grand Master was very pleased that “Harrow is playing its full part in Middlesex Masonry “
