Middlesex Masonic Fishing Charity – Report on first event of 2017 at Syon Park

The Middlesex MTSFC team were out again in force for their first event of the year at Syon Park on the 10th May 2017.

The challenge for the first event of the year was to provide an interactive day’s fishing for 2 schools, comprising of 15 children and so our team of anglers (or casters as we call them) and helpers answered the call to ensure every child would have an unforgettable experience.

The team arrive early to set up the refreshment and registration area and like a well-orchestrated performance, marquees were erected, BBQ’s lit, boilers are steaming and the air was soon heavy with the smell of bacon and eggs.

And while Masons and non-masons, fishermen and helpers all gathered, ate and chatted, it was not long before the coaches began arriving.

Greeted by our enigmatic Chairman they were soon welcomed by the team and donning the official safety gear, clutching a goody bag, they were paired with a caster and heading off to their swim for the main event.

And it didn’t take long for the sound of laughter and excitement to reverberate around the lake as the children were entertained and engaged by the wildlife, fish and more often than not the caster.

The catering team provided a fine fare at the lunchtime interlude, before the children were back behind the rods for an afternoon session, which would prove very productive, with all the children catching smiles all round.

Our next event is once more at Syon Park on the 22nd June 2017, so please get in touch with our Caster Manager – Roy Burgess royburgess@live.com and sign up to what will be another fantastic event in our Middlesex calendar…!!!

See you all there..!!!
